The United States will have an automatic spot in the baseball and softball tournaments at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and the top two nations from the Americas at next month's World Baseball Classic will also qualify. The World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced yesterday that the two best nations from the World Baseball Classic — who have not yet qualified — in the final standings will advance to the 2028 Games. Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela will compete in the Classic. One team from Asia and one from Europe/Oceania can qualify via the WBSC's Premier-12 tournament this November.
